Stargazing with Kevin Boles

 Saturday, August 12th, 2017

8:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Join us for a guided tour of the celestial dome observing constellations and planets with astronomer Kevin Boles, of Morgan County Observatory in Berkeley Springs, WV.   What a great way to spend a lovely summer evening.  This program is fun for the whole family.

At 6:00 we will gather for supper and after dining and fellowship, head outside the Niles Cabin to watch the fireflies and perhaps make some S'mores around a campfire until about 8:30 when Kevin guide will us around the sky with an 8" reflector telescope and star charts to help us appreciate the wonders of the cosmos that we can't see in daylight hours.

The Summer night sky objects which will be available for viewing include: Jupiter and its moons, Saturn, the Ring Nebula, the Hercules Cluster, double star Albireo and more!  Using his laser pointer, Kevin will also point out Summer constellations and say a little about their mythology.

NOTE:   If the weather looks 'iffy' call Sheila to find out if the program will still be offered.  Also feel free to bring your own telescope or binoculars for scanning the sky and consider staying overnight at the cabin if rooms are available for a relaxed Sunday morning departure.
